I am a retired Architect and since 2007 have been immersing myself in the world of painting. Starting in a small studio in Miami, Florida as a self taught artist, my learning curve has involved continual experimentation. Different media, surfaces, subjects, and processes. I have always, even in my Architectural career, been drawn to visual abstraction, and its ability to present the viewer with ambiguity and even confusion. This uncertainty heightens awareness and requires viewer decision making and participation. I feel strongly that a painting should be a window into what the viewer, not necessarily the artist, sees or wants to see as they look through this window. My goal is to use the simple tools of 2 dimensional forms and colors on a flat surface to arouse curiosity, interest, and hopefully tap into something within the viewer’s psyche that gives the painting integral power.
